Brockport Considers Dissolution Of The Village

Voters in the Village of Brockport go to the polls on Tuesday to consider whether the village government should be dissolved.  It's the 2nd time they've had this on the ballot; In 2010, a similar proposal was rejected.

The backers of the movement to dissolve feel that consolidating the village with the Town of Sweden will save tax dollars.

But opponents are concerned about a loss of services, including the village police department. If the town did not want to start its own police force, coverage would be taken over by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department.

Voting is from Noon to 9 p.m. at the Brockport Village Hall.
