Bridge Plan May Temporarily Halt Flow of Niagara Falls

It's only happened once before that we know of, and it may happen again in a few years.

State officials may temporarily stop the flow of water over the American side of Niagara Falls so they can replace two 115-year old bridges linking the mainland to islands near the brink of the falls.

Buffalo Newsreporter Nancy Fischer says the last time the thundering water flow was halted - in 1969 - thousands of people came from all over the world to take a look.
