Former Rochester School District Superintendent has accepted the job as superintendent of the Manchester School District in New Hampshire.
That according to the New Hampshire Union Leaderwhich says a school board committee voted 14 to 1 to offer him the position.
The job offer is subject to a negotiated contract with Vargas. That will be worked out in a Monday meeting.
Vargas was one of two finalists for the job, and school officials say the other candidate withdrew from consideration for a variety of personal reasons.
Vargas led the Rochester School District from July 2012 through last December. He remained on the payroll through the end of June in an advisory capacity.
Rochester got a new school superintendent with the new school year, former Greece Supt. Barbara-Deane Williams was named to that post.
