'Bob' is the name picked for the Seneca Park Zoo's new sea lion pup

Seneca Park Zoo/Monroe County

The new sea lion pup at the Seneca Park Zoo has a name….and it is “Bob.”

The announcement came Wednesday from Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo who says that an online poll was conducted over the last week, and ‘Bob’ won in that survey after getting more than 50 percent of the vote.

Nearly 1,500 votes were cast in the online poll, which featured the final three of the 2,000 unique name suggestions received at the zoo.

The name Bob, beat out the other finalists, which were Slider and Flippers.

Bob was born June 7th to his 8 year old mother Lily.
