Bausch + Lomb went before COMIDA, the County of Monroe Industrial Development Agency Monday, looking for tax breaks for a nearly $118 million project to upgrade its facilities on North Goodman Street. Those incentives were approved.
B+L, which is owned by Valeant Pharmaceuticals, wants to add manufacturing lines for contact lenses.
As part of that expansion, the company expects to create 112 new jobs over the next three years. RG&E will also be providing incentives and the state’s economic development agency will provide up to $11 million in tax incentives as well.
Sen. Charles Schumer announced last year that B + L was originally considering making the new lenses in Ireland, but then changed its plans.
Last year company officials also announced that Bausch and Lomb is installing more than 3600 solar panels which will reduce the company's carbon dioxide emissions by some 800 tons annually
