Bank Warns Of Robocall Fraud Attempts

www.securityaffairs.co

Maybe you received a call.

M and T Bank says someone is cold-calling people trying to scam personal information.

The people trying to pull this scam will seemingly do or say anything to separate you from vital personal information.

M and T bank says someone is calling with a recorded message saying they are from the bank and there is a problem with an account. They are asking for information such as the card number, PIN and expiration date. The information is then used to make illegal cash withdrawals.

The bank says if you ever question the legitimacy of a request for information from someone claiming to represent M&T Bank or if you believe you've been the victim of  a fraud, contact the bank immediately.

Some who received these messages aren't even M & T customers.

What should you do?

  • Know that M & T won't ask for your information by phone, email or mail.
  • Watch your monthly statements for any unauthorized spending.
  • Don't put your financial information on unfamiliar websites.
  • Stay away from the "work from home" emails.

More suggestions from M & T are here or call 1-800-724-2440 Mon-Fri 6am-9pm, Sat-Sun 9am-5pm.
