There were very few cancellations at the Rochester Airport, at least through midday on Wednesday despite the bad weather here, and heavy rains along some East Coast cities.

Crews were out all night in Rochester clearing snow, and there weren't many problems at most of the airports that Rochester flights go.  Airport Director Mike Giardino says there were some minor delays in the morning caused by the airlines having to de-ice their planes.

He says this is the busiest week of travel of the year for the Rochester Airport. Sunday will be another busy day with people returning.

"Sunday is a very big day also, it is the busiest week of the year, so we expect traffic right through Sunday  night. "

Among the passengers WXXI News spoke with, Bonnie Stenko of Rochester, she was going to visit with her grandchildren in Charlotte, North Carolina. She said she didn’t mind traveling on such a busy holiday, even though the snow came a little early for her tastes.

"Not at all, what will be will be, to see those little faces, it will be all better, it's not Christmas, this shouldn't be happening, but it's not unusual. "

You are advised to get to the airport earlier than usual this week, not just because of the weather, but because of the holiday travel.
