Attica Prison in Lockdown After Guards Stabbed

Attica, NY – A man serving a 92-years-to-life term attacked three guards at Attica State Prison on Thursday, leaving the prison in lockdown on Friday.

State Correctional Services Department spokesman James Flateau said inmate Shondell Paul sprang at the guards as they were moving him from a cell block to the mess hall for dinner. He had a 7-inch knife taped to his wrist which he used to stab three guards who tried to subdue him. Other guards brought him to the ground, and the injured men were treated in Batavia.

Their names have not yet been released.
