Two arrests were made Friday in connection to Rochester Police Officer Jeremy Nash getting shot in the line of duty last year.

As a result of investigation, Tykyal Glover, 16, of Rochester was arrested and charged with Assault in First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree

17 year old Kamiu Blake was charged with Attempted Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

RPD Chief Michael Ciminelli says the investigation eventually focused on two groups of suspects who frequented the area of North Street and Clifford Avenue.

"These two groups were involved in an ongoing dispute over stolen property and typically resorted to the use of violence and firearms to resolved their conflicts. Physical evidence recovered from the shooting scene, as well as information received from people in the neighborhood, confirmed the involvement of these groups not only in the shooting of Officer Nash, but also in a number of other violent acts in this neighborhood."

Ciminelli says they aren't calling this gang activity at this time.

In addition to the arrests of Glover and Blake, Ciminelli says the investigation also resulted in nearly two dozen search warrants executed, approximately 28 illegal firearms seizer, 14 of which are directly linked to Glover and Blake, as well as seven free arms not directly related to the shooting.

Both Glover and Blake are currently being held on bail and have preliminary hearings next week.
