Arrest made in connection with accident that killed popular local runner and teacher

Rochester Police have made an arrest in connection with the accident that killed a popular local runner and teacher last week.

On Monday morning, RPD announced that 27 year old Jon Jamberdino of Chili was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, where the injury resulted in death.

Police say Jamberdino turned himself in.

The accident happened last Thursday on Elmwood Avenue at  Wilson Boulevard near the University of Rochester.  38 year old Jill Skivington Jackett, was crossing Elmwood when police say a car struck her and continued eastbound without stopping.

Jamberdino pleaded not guilty as his arraignment Monday morning and he's being held on $5,000 cash bail or $15,000 bond..

The attorney for Jamberdino tells the D & C his client is devastated by what happened. He also says his client has learning disabilities.  Authorities say there is no evidence of any drug or alcohol involvement in the accident.

Skivington Jackett was an English teacher at Wheatland-Chili High School. She was also a cross country coach and directed school musicals.  

A service in celebration of Skvington Jackett's life is set for Wednesday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the education building at Genesee Country Village in Mumford.
