According to a new survey by the Rochester Business Alliance, employees of a number of local companies can expect a larger paycheck in 2014.
RBA president and CEO Sandy Parker says 89% of the 149 member companies that responded to the survey are budgeting for an average 3% pay increase for workers next year. "Usually you're looking at an escalation in health care costs, so even a three percent pay increase assists in offsetting the ever increasing health care costs that employees are facing."
Parker says 3% pay increases are in keeping with national projections.
Both small and large companies took part in the survey, including some of the area's top employers such as the University of Rochester, Wegmans, Unity Health System and Kodak.
