Rochester, NY – The Rochester Amerks go for a team record 12 consecutive wins when they take to the ice in Buffalo Thursday night. The Amerks are currently the top team in the American Hockey League with 25 points. That's a far cry from the last two seasons. Last year, the Amerks were the second worst team in the league; the year before; they were at the bottom of the heap.
Last year was clearly the beginning of a transition for the Amerks. Curt Styres took over as owner and the team dropped its affiliation with the Buffalo Sabres. This past summer, the organization brought on former Amerks' player Ted Nolan as its Vice President of Hockey Operations. Nolan was on the 1984-85 team that set the record for wins.
WXXI's Peter Iglinski talked with Nolan about the winning streak and the team's drastic turnaround. He started by asking Nolan about the importance of setting a new team record for consecutive wins.
