American Rock Salt Expands

American Rock Salt Logo

A Livingston County company is expanding and adding jobs. Governor Cuomo says that American Rock Salt  will be adding 55 jobs, and retaining 300 other positions as part of a $4 million investment by the company in the Mt. Morris operations.

American Rock Salt, which is the largest operating salt mine in the U.S., will extend its rail siding operations which will allow for more efficient transportation of its salt when demand is high.

The expansion also involves the relocation of the Vaporizer company to Mt. Morris. Vaporizer is a Connecticut company recently purchased by American Rock Salt. That business makes a variety of ice melting products.

The state is providing $400,000 in grants toward the expansion.
