Rochester Gas and Electric says an accident on Manitou Road early Saturday is what led to about 30,00 customers losing electricity on the west side of Monroe County.
Just before 6:30 a.m. spokesman Dan Hucko said that half of those affected had been restored, and the rest were expected to be back on line shortly.
He says the accident took down a circuit. The accident was reported on Manitou Road in Greece at about 5:00 a.m.
The largest block of customers affected were in Greece, with more than 19,000 out. Other outages included parts of Parma, Ogden, Hilton, Gates and Chili.
