State Police say two children died in a crash on the NYS Thruway on Monday morning.
Troopers were called there around 5:45 a.m. to the westbound lanes and found one car vehicle had overturned and was on its side in the right lane.
Two children, ages 9 and 11, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The male driver was taken to Strong Hospital in critical condition. An adult female passenger was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still looking for a second vehicle that was not involved in the initial incident, but may have unknowingly struck one of the children.
Troopers are looking for a Honda with some damage to the undercarriage which was leaking fluids. Anyone with information on this vehicle is asked to call the State Police at 585-389-4100.
The westbound side of the Thruway between exit 42 in Geneva and 43 in Manchester was expected to be closed for several hours.
