Rochester's own Garth Fagan marked the 40th anniversary of his dance troupe in style this week with a performance at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where he debuted a new collaboration with jazz legend Wynton Marsalis. WXXI's Julie Philipp has been covering the collaboration between Marsalis and Fagan, and she spoke to both of them before they traveled to Brooklyn.

Grammy-winning musician and composer Wynton Marsalis is in Rochester this week, rehearsing with Garth Fagan Dance. 

According to The Children's Agenda in Rochester, children represent 24% of the nation's population and 100% of the nation's future.  But the advocacy group says the needs of children are being ignored by politicians as they debate the issues this election season.  In response, the organization is joining several other groups to launch an initiative called VOTE for KIDS New York.  Need to Know Rochester host Julie Philipp talks with President Jeffrey Kaczorowski and Executive Director Larry Marx.
